I felt spoilt and lazy. Occasionally, I wondered if going to a state college would be more stimulating. Deep down, though, I always knew Id stay at MIT. I just needed to change something about life. Today came the first major snowfall of the year. I ventured outside before sunrise. “It’s a winter fairytale,” I breathed into the frost, overwhelmed by the pristine beauty of East Campus courtyard. All campus roads molded into one white canvas, and all buildings matched. Any divisions were erased. The Boston skyline disappeared behind the storm. Here lay the reason I was intrigued by learning.   Mathematics, gorgeous and magical, had been there, with me, the whole time. Suddenly, I was hit with the hope and wonder from the scorching 2014 September. I could still make new discoveries every time I crossed the bridge, MIT campus, East Campus courtyard. All I had to do was look. So simple. How could I ever forget? Life certainly shifted since the fall semester’s start. But what I had come to regard as a collection of problems and solutions, was actually a set of bursts: of fateful encounters, curious lectures, enticing events, and life-changing projects. I cant catch them all, but I can chase the ones I love. It’s not the continuum that matters, but the discontinuities and jumps. They make MIT special. They determine whether we love or hate this place. I cannot adore MIT always, but I do now. No place is an ideal match, but I guess I’m pretty darn close. Avedon attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. He never completed his high school career, and in 1942 Avedon joined the U.S. Merchant Marine Photographic Department. When he returned he joined the Design Laboratory taught at The New School by famous art teacher Alexey Brodovitch. Through this class he started to become well known for his stylistically fashion work that often took place in exotic and vivid locations. In the end Edward remained secluded in his home where he could do what he was meant to do, express himself, and although their love was strong, Kim and Edward never see each other again. As it may already be apparent this story line is full of many archetypes. We see Edward take a Journey, in search of identity and love, where he finds both. He becomes an artist that is loved, but things begin to fall apart when he finds love with Kim, and the town turns against him a transcendent hero, a hero as a lover, and an unbalanced hero. There are also many characteristics of the heros Journey in this film. The hero, Edward, is naive and inexperienced, when dealing with society, and has to learn many basic things that occur in everyday life. Peg is his caregiver who guides him to assimilate to their customs. We see the hero yearns for Kim, who is sometimes his guide and inspiration. Edward loves Kim and wants to be with her and he is willing to do anything to conquest her. Another characteristic that we see is the Journey that the hero must embark in order to learn a lesson, change in some way, and return home. This is shown when he goes into the town, tries to fit in with society, realizes he cant change who he is and that it is better to be yourself and therefore returns to his home. A situation archetype that is portrayed in the movie is the classic battle between good and evil. Edward represents the good character, while Jim the Jealous boyfriend is the evil character. Every individual in society is guaranteed a certain amount of protection and equality from the state regardless of their situation or background. Depending on how the terms discrimination and equality are interpreted in the courts will those rights apply. In the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, section 15 consists of two subsections which will be examined in terms of discrimination within society. As stated in section 15 (1) â€Å"Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection of the law without discrimination......†.1 The term discrimination here refers to all the forms of discrimination such as race, ethnicity, or any forms of disabilities.
